[Pseudo instruction] Install Utorrent in Linux mint

Where I download utorrent server http://www.utorrent.com/intl/en/downloads/complete/os/linux-x64-debian-7-0/track/beta

$ sudo apt-get install libssl0.9.8:i386
$ cd Downloads/
$ sudo cp utserver.tar.gz /opt/
$ cd /opt/
$ sudo tar -xvf utserver.tar.gz
$ sudo rm -rf utserver.tar.gz
$ sudo chmod 777 -R utorrent-server-alpha-v3_3/
$ sudo ln -s /opt/utorrent-server-alpha-v3_3/utserver /usr/bin/utserver

At this step, if you met the error:

failed to create symbolic link ‘/usr/bin/utserver’: File exists

Try either the two following ways:

$ sudo rm /usr/bin/utserver
$ sudo ln -s /opt/utorrent-server-v3_0/utserver /usr/bin/utserver

or

$ sudo ln -sf /opt/utorrent-server-v3_0/utserver /usr/bin/utserver

 

-f, --force means remove existing destination files

Then continue:

$ sudo ln -s /opt/utorrent-server-alpha-v3_3/utserver /usr/bin/utserver
$ utserver -settingspath /opt/utorrent-server-alpha-v3_3/ &

Type your username: admin and leave the password empty
uto

Open your browser, type: localhost:8080/gui
utorrent

Click on setting button, go to directories menu and set the default download directory as Downloads. Then click “Save settings” button.
